What model and brand was your 1st climbing shoes?
Boreal, mmm, prob Lazers

What is the best place in the world for bouldering?

Home sweet home, South Africa, only really been bouldering here.

In how many country did you go to climb?
Spain, France, Switzerland, Thailand, India, Namibia, South Africa

Where and why did you start climbing?
In a small town called De Doorns, a teacher from school built a wall and started a club, I was about 9years old.

Have you ever take part of Climbing World Cup?

nope, don't care much for competing

What do you think about bouldering as sport in Olympic Games?
it might draw more money from corporates to climbers to give 'rock climbing pros' better deals

Do you often climb in gym?
Almost never, I have a woody at home and on the farm in Namibia.

Did you ever train for a specific project?

yes, but haven't gotten round to leaving Rocklands to go try it!

Who do you admire?
My mate Mad Mike Baleta

What was the last book you read?
Company Income Tax, and a guide to Bleau

What music do you listen?
Mostly everything, but in moderation, not drowning out reality!

What do you think about solo climbing?
I used to have a better head for it when I was really young.

What is a highball for you? At what height it begins to be a highball?

When the probability of injury becomes significant in the ascent.

Was your progression fast or does it takes years?
I've been climbing for 16years, every move counts toward something, getting stronger or injured, my appetite for sending harder boulders have significantly increased this year.

Did you take part of a specific training to help your progression?

I pretty much train alone on our farm for most the year, during two months in Namibia I do lots of swim training with Mad Mike Baleta, a big wave surfer with loads of energy!

What do you like to eat?
Seafood, healthy stuff, grapefruits

What is your best meal in a crag?
Rice crackers, avocado, hummus, chicken, rocket :)

Do you plan to climb all your life?
4 shure

Have you ever shape holds?
Too many to count, I make all the holds for my walls, so easy and cheap!

What is the "bad-ass" place to climb?
Prob Patagonia or some horribly cold place when the bad weather rolls in and you're stuck up on a exposed mountain side freezing your balls off!

What is the best developments in climbing history?

Good climbing shoes

What item you don't want to forget to put in your bag before leaving to the crag?

Shoes, obviously!

Cookies

Beer or wine?
Red wine

Do you consider yourself as a pro climber?
No, but I do put all my energy and effort into it!

What is your graduation status?
Studying through correspondence UNISA, will graduate BCom Managerial Accounting asap?

Crimps, slopes or pinch?
Crimps, maybe slopers soon… Bleau :)

What else than climbing do you like to do?
Surfing, Freestyle Kitesurfing, Mountain biking, Skydiving, Cooking, Freediving
